The new Level 3 Award in Education and Training (AET) replaces the older Level 3 & 4 Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS) qualification.

The Level 3 Award in Education and Training is suitable for those working within Higher Education (HE), Further Education (FE) Colleges, private Training Providers, Local Authorities etc
- Assessors who would like to begin or progress to a career in teaching or training,
- Teachers who are beginning their teaching careers ,
- Internal quality assurers or internal verifiers (IQA or IV’s) who are also involved in the teaching and assessment process,
- Employees who are required to conduct some training in the their workplace eg, Sales Managers training their Sales team.
The Award in Education and Training is based on the assessment strategy and qualification structures, devised originally by Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK), and are now owned by the Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS). The Award is accredited by well-known UK Awarding Organisations and is internationally recognised.
There are three compulsory units available in the Award in Education and Training.
The units in these qualifications overlap and can be used to claim exemption from a variety of Learning & Development and Education & Training qualifications, for example, the Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training and the Level 3 Assessor Qualifications.
